Shelter Guest Minister – FT

Job Summary
The Shelter Guest Minister (SGM) is the frontline staff and serves as the primary point of contact for all the guests, volunteers, and visitors to the Salina Rescue Mission (SRM). The SGM provides supervision and care for homeless men and all other guests that need assistance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform daily operational duties of the Guest Services team, ensuring a hospitable, professional, and safe environment is provided for the guests.

· Carry out the responsibilities of this Christian Ministry, serving as the primary contact the guests in the SRM can and do come to for encouragement and aid.

· Provide high quality and compassionate service to all guests of the SRM.

· Operate and utilize the client database system (Apricot).

· Know, support, and uphold all policies and procedures of the SRM.

· Provide coverage in the Hospitality Hub, assist with donations, collaborate with SGM volunteers, participate in devotional and chapel services, and transport guests in the Mission van when needed.

· Assist in the teaching and training of New Life Program (NLP) men in work therapy responsibilities throughout the SRM.

· Socialize with and minister to men and guests during meal services.

· Coordinate with department managers to ensure that guest’s immediate needs as well as the buildings’ needs are being met.

· Willing to serve effectively wherever may be needed and as delegated by the Director of Guest Services, Chief Operating Officer and/or the Executive Pastor.

EXPECTATIONS: 

· Work shifts range from 2:00-10:00pm; 11:00pm-7:00am to meet the ministry’s needs.

· Nights and Weekend shifts will be required as needed.

· Weekly hours 40-45 hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Provide a clear Biblical testimony of a personal experience of receiving by faith Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

· Possess a bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience working with the homeless and unemployed.

· Demonstrate personal responsibility in the management of one’s life/family.

· Understand that the Salina Rescue Mission is a non-traditional church and see each staff member as a minister within their role.

· Organize and keep good records.

· Have experience in utilizing computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and be able to learn how to use other computer programs as needed.

· Able to be professional, hospitable and safety-minded in working with guests and other community partners.

· Resourceful in finding solutions to meet the needs of our guests.

· Able to maintain healthy boundaries working with guests.

· Live a drug free life, including abstaining from alcohol and smoking

· Learn, follow, and uphold all policies of the Salina Rescue Mission.

Program Support Associate – FT

Job Summary
The Program Support Associate (PSA) works as a case manager for men that are in the Supportive Health and Employment programs, two of the three programs offered to the guests of the Salina Rescue Mission (SRM). The PSA also provides support to the Employment Program Coordinator (EPC) and Stabilization and Supportive Health Coordinator (SSHC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Work with guests to follow and accomplish their Individualized Care & Moves Management Plans to accomplish goals for wellness, resources, long-term living, and stability.

· Coordinate with other community partners/resource organizations to provide services and aid (CKF, CKMHC, CKF, Clubhouse, etc.)

· Secure ID, if needed, for the men at SRM (Social Security card, Birth certificate, etc.)

· Teach guests how to establish a budget, set goals for paying debts, and how to put money into savings using Biblical principles and tested practices and methods like Ramsey Solutions.

· Connect individuals who are not able to manage their own finances with resource organizations like PIN, who serve as payee organizations.

· Navigate the challenges and benefits of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) with men in the Supportive Health program.

· Coordinate with CKMHC to address mental health needs.

· Help guests identify self-sabotaging behaviors that have led them to being homeless, and develop strategies to address these behaviors to prevent destructive repetition (Relapse Prevention Plan).

· Help guests learn and put to practice coping mechanisms.

· Set measurable and achievable steps leading to employment or employment training.

· Help guests manage stressful planning and difficult conflict resolution circumstances with other men at the SRM.

· Offer to pray with each of the guests and encourage them in the Word.

· Look for opportunities to have conversations with men that will point them to Jesus and/or help build them up in their faith.

· Assist with the “Worker Training Program”

· Assist with work-projects, keeping in mind the opportunity to teach the men healthy work habits such as being on time, having an attention for detail, interpersonal communication with co-workers and supervisors, cooperation, positive attitude, and personal responsibility.

· Assist in teaching the classes to the men of the following topics: Where to Find Jobs, How to Fill Out Applications / Resume Writing, How to Perform Well in an Interview, How to Earn a Job, Succeed in It, and Keep It. , Financial Management.

· Identify long-term housing options that will best fit the man.

· Maintain and promote an atmosphere of hospitality, professionalism, and safety.

· Work shift typically ranges between 7:00am-5:00pm.

· Nights and Weekend shifts will be required as needed to connect with individual men.

· Weekly hours 45 hour
